The Pigalle Club

My beloved and I visited The Pigalle Club for a romantic evening together, with the aim of getting away from the hustle and bustle of London (combined with the fact that I was looking for the perfect excuse to put on my new dress and pearls). The club (named after Paris’s red-light district) is beautifully decadent, located in an old tearoom and cinema from the 1940’s which just oozes sheer elegance. The interior consists of mirrored walls, pink bars and twinkling diamond lights that immediately whisks you back to a time when swing music and tea dances were at the height of fashion. Waiters in Forties suits and live performers create the perfect atmosphere to forget that you are actually within the depths of our great City. We tucked into our three course dinner and sat back as we were entertained by one of the superb resident swing bands. The menu which mostly consits of French classics was slightly above average, but you do not come here for the food.
It is the whole experience that makes The Pigalle Club one of my new favourite little finds. Every night a different act takes to the stage and the club has also been host to Van Morrison, Shirley Bassey and Marianne Faithfull.
