Le Boudin Blanc

At first I was quite reluctant to share this little find, as this is one of those little gems that should only be used for special occasions. However, I have become very fond of you all through the lovely feedback that you send so here you go. Saturday evening, looking for a romantic little restaurant somewhere hidden off the beaten track, I stumble upon Le Boudin Blanc, a lovely little French restaurant tucked in the depths of Shepherd’s Market, Mayfair. The interior although basic with it’s bare candle-lit tables, resembles that of a traditional French bistro that you would typically only find on Boulevard Saint-Germain consisting of two lovely wood-panelled dining rooms & a private room in the basement wine cellar. The menu offers the traditional French culinary wonders (Escargot, oysters, Foie Gras) as well as some more modern European alternatives.

To start the L’Escargot’s was almost perfect however, one point to watch out for is although I like garlic as much as the next person, the garlic butter used was a little on the strong side leaving paranoid tendencies still prevailing into the next afternoon. My partner had the Classic Mediterranean fish soup served with croutons and cheese which after I tasted it, did leave me with food envy for the remainder of our starters however, this soon passed once I tucked into my main; Roasted Monkfish tail accompanied with a puree of carrot and a reduction of capers and olives. The combination of the strong flavours coming from the caper and olive jus with the subtle taste from the monkfish was divine.
