Face your manga

Something to make you all smile, similar to Simpsonise me without the fastfood funding, Face Your Manga does just that. You can create your own manga character to look just like you. Although the site is nice I would like it more if I could upload a picture of myself and it does it all for me, as I was never any good at self portraits which is why I opted for the cat mask, but the additional features you can add are pretty sweet.
Touch Sight, Camera for the blind

Every now and then, I see an invention that just blows my mind, and this is that time. Designer Chueh Lee at Samsung China, has developed the `Touch Sight’, which may be the world’s first camera for the blind. The camera works when the user presses down the shutter. Instead of visually capturing an image, the camera records the sound for three seconds once the shutter is pressed. Obviously the camera does not have an LCD, but instead has a braille display sheet which displays a 3D image by embossing the surface, allowing the user to touch their photo. “The sound file and picture document combine to become a touchable photo that is saved within the device and can be uploaded to and shared with other Touch Sight devices. FontSctruct (created by FontShop) allows you to create your own font using their very clever little tool kit. You can draw each letter free-hand, and then shape it to perfection with one of the various options provided. The site currently holds nearly 900 fonts available for download all created by the community which is also a nice little touch.
Blip.fm, tunes with twitter

So i’m like a child with a new toy at the moment. Blip.fm is being referred to as Twitter but with music. That pretty much sums it up. It allows you to post a song and associate a reference to it. For example I have recently posted “Awesomeness…in the sweet screaming way” to the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Down Boy. One of the many really great things about it, is you can link it to your Twitter and automatically feed your Blips to your followers. Using the same @ commands as Twitter, you can also dedicate songs to your Twitter friends. As with many of the great new community led sites out there (Dopplr for one) the guys behind Blip really understand the value in feedback, and through the feedback tab on the right hand side of the site, they keep users updated on developments they are making to the product as well as welcoming new suggestions. I like.
Book publishing for kids

We are always telling clients to understand their audience and talk to them at their level, but this new offering from Tikatok has made me think that this should be applied to more services. Through the site, kids can write their own bedtime story, upload their drawings to illustrate it and then share it with their friends and family through their network. For $20 they are also able to print off a hardback or paperback version of their creation to keep.
