Microsoft’s first game for Surface

Microsoft have developed the first game for Surface. The game is called Firefly and the concept remind me of Hungry Hippo’s whereby the user has to catch the firefly’s and bring them towards them until they can trap them in their glass jar. Second Life forced to close banks

Linden Lab, owner of Second Life, have been forced to close all banks within the virtual world due to fraudulent business dealings within the virtual world. They state that they were never responsible for the transactions but solely the software. Linden lab have said that banks must ensure they produce proof of an applicable government registration statement or financial institution charter. Technology Review first published the story when they cited the possibility that one virtual meltdown may have produced losses of up to $700,000 in real money.

This is fantastic. JWT teamed up with RSA films and hired the talents of Martin Scorsese to create a brilliant homage to Alfred Hitchcock for Spanish Cava brand Freixenet. The ad is shot in mockumentary style with Scorsese showing off his lighter side through great acting along with his brilliant direction. At over 9 minutes this requires a little patience but it is well worth the wait.

Social networking for bumps

Someone had to do it.  Yes, Foops is a new social network due for launch in April 2008 for bumps.  Now you don’t even have to be born to have your own profile page.  Until the site is launched, the information available is currently limited but I will provide a full write up after launch.

Amazon Kindle

Amazon have launched Kindle, a wireless device that enables you to download books, newspapers or blogs directly to the device directly from Amazon Whispernet so there is no need for a WiFi connection. Weighing 10.2 ounces, users can choose from over 80,000 sources that are updated throughout the day. The device comes with Wikipedia readily installed and the content is displayed at it is in paper form. Read more

Weiden & Kennedy decorates London

Nokia are this years sponsor of the Christmas lights on Regent Street and have approached their agency Weiden & Kennedy to design the display. The creation is called `Unity’ and consists of 14 clusters of lights that change colour in the wind, temperature and from 14th December, users will be able to interact with the display via an interactive screen within Nokia’s new Regent Street store. A round of applause to Nokia on recognising the skills that agencies possess.

Los Angeles based design duo Kozue and Dan Kitchens collectively known as Kozyndan, have posted an entry on their blog accusing Sony’s agency Fallon of ripping off their work that has been used in their latest Sony Bravia ad that features 200 Play-Doh bunnies in New York. Kozyndan claim to have sent post production agency Passion Pictures a panoramic featuring different coloured bunnies (shown above). Read more
