Book publishing for kids

We are always telling clients to understand their audience and talk to them at their level, but this new offering from Tikatok has made me think that this should be applied to more services. Through the site, kids can write their own bedtime story, upload their drawings to illustrate it and then share it with their friends and family through their network. For $20 they are also able to print off a hardback or paperback version of their creation to keep.

18 year old graffiti artist Skullphone has successfully hacked into 10 of Clear Channel’s digital billboards in LA and replaced the advertising with his trademark skullphone imagery. I want to hire him. Via: Supertouch
Microsoft’s first game for Surface

Microsoft have developed the first game for Surface. The game is called Firefly and the concept remind me of Hungry Hippo’s whereby the user has to catch the firefly’s and bring them towards them until they can trap them in their glass jar. Sarcastic Gamer give their first-hand review of the game in this video.

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners have launched a really nice site for Adobe to support the launch of Creative Suite 3. Adobe Cards starts with a single card with a scrollbar along the bottom of the screen, offering you to move the bar to “take as much as you want”. As the user moves the scrollbar, the cards animate into a really stunning animation sequence.
Visual Complexity

I absolutely love this site. Visual Complexity was founded by Manuel Lima, an interaction designer who is currently Senior User Experience Designer at Nokia Design. Manuel describes the site as a resource space for anyone who is interested in the visualisation of complex networks. I can guarantee you won’t be able to put it down for at least 10 minutes.
Digital paint brush

“I/O Brush is a drawing tool that explores colours, textures, and movements found in everyday materials by “picking up” and drawing with them. I/O Brush looks like a regular paintbrush but has a small video camera with lights and touch sensors embedded inside. Outside of the drawing canvas, the brush can pick up colour, texture, and movement of a brushed surface. On the canvas, artists can draw with the special “ink” they just picked up from their immediate environment.” This is a really great innovation and I am waiting for the consumer product version to launch. MINI - The Other View
September 27, 2007 | Leave a Comment

So we’ve just launched a very interesting campaign for MINI in the lead up to the launch of the new Clubman model and i’m not usually in the habit of promoting our own work, but wanted to share it. Theotherview.co.uk is a site that shows a series of clips that look at things from a different perspective. The catch is the clips will only be shown for 1 minute a week and a counter above the door that leads you to “The Other View” counts down the seconds to when the door is opened. The time is judged by the clock on the users computer so for example, when the users clock turns 4pm BST (tomorrow’s time for example) the view behind the door is revealed. Refreshing to finally see brands start to use the Internet in new ways. See you at 4pm.
