When a brand just get’s it
August 21, 2008 | Comments
This is fucking brilliant (and yes it does justify the swearing). YouTube user Levinator 25 thought he had found a glitch when he played EA’s Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08. He posted a video on YouTube (which can be seen here), showing Tiger Woods walking on the water within the game to take the nicknamed `Jesus Shot’. Now admittedly this is quite funny but not as funny as the response that EA have given. They have posted their own video shown above stating “Levinator 25, you seem to think your Jesus Shot video was a glitch in the game”. They have then produced a real video of Tiger himself walking down the fairway, onto the water reaching the middle of the pond to take his next winning shot. Golden. It is one thing for brands to actually use tools such as Twitter and Google alerts to see what is being said about their brand, however this is a prime example of tackling potential negative publicity and turning it into an opportunity of getting talked about in a positive way amongst the hard-core EA fans.
Face your manga

Something to make you all smile, similar to Simpsonise me without the fastfood funding, Face Your Manga does just that. You can create your own manga character to look just like you. Although the site is nice I would like it more if I could upload a picture of myself and it does it all for me, as I was never any good at self portraits which is why I opted for the cat mask, but the additional features you can add are pretty sweet.
Touch Sight, Camera for the blind

Every now and then, I see an invention that just blows my mind, and this is that time. Designer Chueh Lee at Samsung China, has developed the `Touch Sight’, which may be the world’s first camera for the blind. The camera works when the user presses down the shutter. Instead of visually capturing an image, the camera records the sound for three seconds once the shutter is pressed. Obviously the camera does not have an LCD, but instead has a braille display sheet which displays a 3D image by embossing the surface, allowing the user to touch their photo. “The sound file and picture document combine to become a touchable photo that is saved within the device and can be uploaded to and shared with other Touch Sight devices.
